[«both» significa «ambos» («one and the other»). Se construye con un verbo en plural. Puede usarse solo o seguido de un nombre («both were open»; «both doors were open»), o seguido de ‘ (of) + the/these/those o posesivos’ («both (of) the wheels»; «both (of) your wheels»), o seguido de ‘of + us/you/them («both of us knew him»). Un pronombre personal + «both» también es posible («We both knew him»). «both … and … » se puede usar para enfatizar una combinación de dos adjetivos, nombres, verbos etc. («It was both cold and wet»; «He is both an actor and a director»; «He both acts and directs.»)]
